supercalenders manufactured by Hunt and Moscrop, rebuilt by Klienewefers
1984, operating width each 3000m, mixture of synthetic and cotton filled
rolls, Flexitherm rolls operate at 60 to 80 deg C, speed 400 m/min. Unwind
with water cooled drum brakes, lateral movement on the unwind stand, maximum
and minimum roll diameters 1524 mm unwind and 1500mm rewind. The
supercalenders have top and bottom swimming rolls, DC drive, lifting gantry
at the rear for tail feeding, camera support systems, horizontal drum reel
up for reel diameter 1500mm maximum, each of the main drives is 399 kw. and
rewind drives 49.98 kw |

Two swim rolls, 4 filled and 3 chilled iron rolls. Grades normally run include 34# - 60 # Offset, 34# - 60# Roto, and 33#-35# SCC and SCB. Stack is driven by one intermediate roll through a Falk 152Y1S double input gearbox with two, 350 HP DC motors. Doctor oscillators were replaced in 1998 with Thermo Web units. Main drive gearboxes were replaced in approximately 1996. Hydraulic system for #2 Supercalender swim rolls was replaced in 2000. Two calenders available. |
